Welcome to my world...

Hello Everyone,
My name is Rebecca Parag, I am a Criminal Justice major and would like to someday become a Legal Assistant. I currently work at Capital One bank as a part-time teller and I am a part-time student. I am taking this class because it meets the pathways requirement, but I specifically chose this course because I am interested to learn more about computer meditated communication. I get the basics of communicating through texting and phone calls, but I would like to learn the different ways in which online and mobile technologies have changed the way we all communicate. I am also more interested in how technology became such a big part of our lives as it is today.

I use computer meditated communication on an everyday basis like many people do. Such things I use are an iPhone, tablet, email, text messaging, and social networks. I use my iPhone to pretty much do everything communication wise. I make calls (very rarely), I text mostly everyone I talk to because it is my preferred choice of communication and I love using emojis for my expressions. I go on social media which I use mostly to see whats going on with my friends and family. I have some family who don't live in the United States that I use social media to communicate with just to keep in touch. I mainly use my tablet for school to check blackboard, to store my textbooks and to email my professors if I need to.

The form of computer meditated communication that is my favorite is texting. This is my favorite because I feel that it is more convenient in order to contact people. I personally prefer people to text me instead of call because there are times where I cannot pick up the phone and have the conversation that I need to, but if I receive a text its better for me to text and have the conversation that way because then I could continue what I was doing while still being able to have that conversation. Also depending on who I am around texting seems to be the better choice because I hate other people listening to my conversations. There are times though when I do have to have actual phone conversations, for example when I have to speak to my mom because she doesn't like texting and when she does text she takes 10 minutes to type one sentence. Even though there are times when I have to have phone conversations I would have to definitely stick to texting being my favorite!
